Telehealth Success
Desert Clover Psychiatry offers secure, high-quality mental health care through telehealth as an option to our clients. Whether you're working with us for Medication Strategies, Therapy Engagements, or both, your care remains consistent, private, and tailored to your goals, even when you're not physically in the office.
Need help with setup? Let us know 24 hours before your appointment if you need help with the platform or device.
A back-up video link is always included. We always include a telehealth link in our appointment reminders, even if the appointment is scheduled to be in-person. This allows our clients the ability to switch to telehealth without issue last minute. Just give us a call to give us the heads up!
Minors must have a guardian present for all telehealth appointments.
Private and Distraction Free
A successful telehealth appointment starts with your environment. Choose a quiet, private location where you can speak freely and won’t be overheard. Eliminate background noise and distractions by silencing phones, closing other apps, and asking housemates or coworkers not to interrupt during your session.
Just like in-person care, your privacy is essential. Creating a calm space helps you focus, feel safe, and make the most of your time with your provider.
Respect your Privacy
Your privacy matters, and it’s our ethical and legal responsibility to protect it. Public places like coffee shops, shared offices, or store parking lots are not appropriate for mental health care. If your provider sees that your location doesn’t meet basic privacy standards, the appointment may be ended and counted as a no-show.
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of effective care. Public environments risk exposing sensitive information and reduce your ability to speak openly.
Arrive Ready and On Time
Treat your telehealth visit just like you would an in-office appointment. Log in a few minutes early to check your internet connection, camera, and microphone. Have any recent symptoms, questions, or medication concerns ready to discuss.
Being ready and on time helps us stay on schedule and ensures you get your full appointment time. Technical delays are sometimes unavoidable, but preparation can make a big difference.
Don’t multitask
Your appointment is dedicated time to focus on your mental health. Activities like driving, folding laundry, shopping online, or preparing meals during your session disrupt the therapeutic process and can lead to your provider ending the session early.
Multitasking sends your brain, and the conversation, in too many directions. Being fully present allows you to get the most from your provider and build meaningful progress.
Stay Present and Engaged
Minimize multitasking. Please avoid driving, being at work, or walking during your session. Sessions are more effective when both client and provider are fully focused and able to see and hear one another clearly.
Mental health care works best when we treat it with the same attention we would give any other important conversation. Staying present supports better outcomes and strengthens your connection with your provider.
A few Telehealth “don’ts”
Don’t ignore tech issues
Check your camera, audio, and internet connection before your session begins. If you’re new to telehealth or switching devices, let us know 24 hours in advance so we can help you prepare.
Unexpected tech problems can shorten or derail your session. Proactive setup supports a smooth experience and ensures you get the care you scheduled.
